Learning at the Botanical Garden
Learning Support Programs
At the botanical garden, a wide variety of plants are grown in conditions that closely resemble their natural habitats.
There are many plants here that you would normally only see in illustrated guides or textbooks.
Learning at the botanical garden lets you experience real plants and discover the diversity, fascinating aspects, and wonders of the plant world firsthand.
Learning from Real Plants
Because it is an ecological garden, you can learn how plants grow and where they live. In the greenhouse, you can experience the climates where exotic plants thrive.
You can see, feel, and learn about the intricate structures, characteristics, and true sizes of plants, which cannot be fully understood through photos or videos.
You can observe various types of plants that appear in textbooks, including gymnosperms, ferns, and mosses, all at once.
Learn through Experience
By seeing, touching, smelling, and feeling, you can have a variety of experiences that deepen your learning. There are plants you can experience through all five senses.
During garden tours, visitors may have the chance to touch large leaves, although this may not always be possible depending on the condition of the plants.。
There is a "Touch Corner" along the passage between the Savanna House and the Useful Plants House (Tropical Plant Resources House).
Explore the Diversity of Plants
For every species of plant, there is something fascinating to discover. Through staff-led garden tours and class-tailored educational programs, we help students explore a wide variety of plants.
We offer a variety of learning programs.
Staff will briefly introduce the garden, highlight plants in season, and explain their characteristics.
