Conveying Biodiversity
Conveying Biodiversity
To understand the essence of Biodiversity, to be moved by its beauty, and to realize its irreplaceable worth is, for humanity, to touch the very source of life itself, a profound joy and a wisdom that sustains our future.
The Tsukuba Botanical Garden conveys everything about diverse plants: their shapes and ways of life, the evolutionary paths that gave rise to them, their connections with other organisms, the relationship between humans and plants, and the critical situation facing plants.
Visitors can intuitively experience the biodiversity represented by 7,000 living plant species as they stroll through the garden. Events featuring living plant species convey ways to enjoy of plants from various perspectives — viewing, seeking out, playing with, observing, drawing, growing, and utilizing them. At the seminar, researchers from the botanical garden will clearly and engagingly present their latest findings, guiding participants toward a deeper understanding of the subject. In this exhibition, which distills the essence of “Conveying,” you will experience the profound depth and breadth of each theme — a quality that also lies at the heart of plant diversity itself.
We humans, like other living beings, can only survive within the vast expanse of Biodiversity. Yet no other species has sought to utilize and understand plant diversity to such an extent as humans. Let alone be moved by it.
The Tsukuba Botanical Garden will continue to convey the essence of plant diversity and its deep connection to humanity. As more people come to understand and reflect on this, it will surely lead humanity toward a better future.
